Forget “Succession,” “The Crown” and “The Sopranos” — the latest family dynasty drama will be about the Anheuser-Busch family.
Called “Under the Influence” and based on an “unauthorized” 1991 book of the same name, the show will chronicle five generations of the family known for Budweiser beer, among other products. The book bills itself as presenting the “opportunism, unbridled power, family conflict and sex scandals hidden behind the red, white, and blue logo.”
The juicy saga reportedly will follow their rise from German immigrants to a wealthy dynasty that dominates America’s beer market — and the power struggles and “unscrupulous dealings” along the way as they battle for control over the brewery.
Since “Under the Influence” is billed as an unauthorized story, all bets are off on whether the family will be happy to see themselves dramatized on-screen.
No stars or writer are attached yet, but it’s coming from 101 Studios, the producers behind Paramount’s Western hit “Yellowstone,” starring Kevin Costner.
