Feel the Bern from his hospital bed!
Bionic presidential wannabe Bernie Sanders will appear in the next round of Democrat debates on Oct. 15 after he was hospitalized for a blocked artery this week, a spokeswoman said Thursday.
The 78-year-old Vermont senator was forced to temporarily suspend his campaign Tuesday night after experiencing “some chest discomfort” at an event in Las Vegas.
His wife, Jane, confirmed the lawmaker was still in the hospital but said doctors were “pleased with his progress” and that the senator was in high spirits and “cracking jokes” with the medical staff.
“There has been no need for any additional procedures,” Jane wrote. “We expect Bernie will be discharged and on a plane back to Burlington before the end of the weekend.”
“He’ll take a few days to rest, but he’s ready to get back out there and is looking forward to the October debate,” she added.
Sanders was rushed to an undisclosed hospital in the Valley, where he underwent an unexpected heart procedure and had two stents inserted.
Campaign staff said they did not know when the disheveled septuagenarian would return to the trail, but on Thursday claimed Sanders would be ready to appear in the fourth debates in Ohio in just under two weeks’ time.
On Wednesday afternoon, he thanked fans for their support — tweeting, “I’m feeling good.”
“I’m fortunate to have good health care and great doctors and nurses helping me to recover,” he wrote.
The scare came just hours after his campaign boasted about the $25.3 million war chest it had amassed over the past three months — more than any other Democrat in the race.
