Energy Secretary Rick Perry is expected to step down next month, a report said Thursday.
Perry’s expected departure in November is unrelated to his contact with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Politico reported, citing two people familiar with his plans.
Still, Perry, who met with Zelensky three times while in office, said Wednesday that he would work with Congress in its impeachment probe into President Trump.
As part of the impeachment inquiry, Democrats allege Trump used his office to urge Zelensky to investigate his chief political rival, Joe Biden.
Perry, who has held the cabinet position since he was confirmed soon after Trump’s election, is expected to be replaced by his deputy, Dan Brouillette, Politico reported.
