The Rays have had a lot to celebrate in the last five days, but Wednesday night’s wild-card celebration went up a notch.
After the Rays defeated the Athletics, Fox Sports Florida reporter Tricia Whitaker was doused with alcohol. The camera was already wet and Whitaker squinted through the bubbles in her eyes as she began her interview with pitcher Charlie Morton, who earned the win in the AL wild-card game.
Whitaker didn’t miss a beat in her questions for Morton as three bottles of beer were spilled over her head. She was further soaked while speaking to outfielders Tommy Pham and Avisail García, while battling vapor or cigar smoke in her interview with Willy Adames.
It was the second time within a week Whitaker got soaked, the first coming Saturday when Tampa Bay clinched a playoff berth. She was wringing booze out of her hair while interviewing Tyler Glasnow. She then found herself in the line of fire as Glasnow was targeted for a freezing-cold beer shower mid-answer.
Although Wednesday was her second time that week bathing in booze, Whitaker posted a picture of her soaking outfit on Twitter and wrote how much she enjoyed it. It’ll be up to the Rays if they want to have any more champagne parties.
