Yankees in the playoffs: October as it’s meant to be

As is right and proper, it’s October and the New York Yankees are still taking the field. The action starts Friday night as the Minnesota Twins come to the Bronx.

The Yanks have the better regular-season record, 103 wins to the Twinkies’ 101.

And they’ve historically dominated Minnesota in postseason play, going 13-2 and winning all five playoff series this century. Not to mention the Bronx Bombers’ history of 27 world championships, and counting.

Of course, the last decade’s been dry by Yankee standards: They haven’t made it back to the World Series since winning in 2009.

And this year’s squad had to overcome nonstop injuries to many top players. Even now, Aaron Hicks is out till 2020 and CC Sabathia will miss at least the first round of the playoffs.

But Giancarlo Stanton, Gary Sanchez and Luis Severino are back. And the starter for Game 1 is as hot as you could ask: James Paxton went 10-0 with a 2.25 ERA in his final 10 starts of the regular season.

“I’m so excited,” Paxton told The Post. “I’ve never been a part of a postseason team, so to be going into the ALDS is going to be a lot of fun. We are going to have a great time playing the game of baseball.”
