Major League Baseball is investigating a longtime umpire after he sent a tweet threatening to buy an assault rifle over an impeachment inquiry into President Trump, a report said Wednesday.
Umpire Rob Drake wrote on Twitter late Tuesday that he would buy the weapon, “because if you impeach MY PRESIDENT this way, YOU WILL HAVE ANOTHER CIVAL WAR!!! #MAGA2020”, ESPN reported.
The tweet was sent — and deleted, as was his Twitter account — after Drake tweeted another message about the impeachment inquiry.
“You can’t do an impeachment inquiry from the basement of Capital Hill without even a vote! What is going on in this country?” he wrote.
The MLB is aware of Drake’s tweet that mentioned a “cival war” and is looking into it, according to ESPN.
Drake has been calling games in the majors since 1999, ESPN reported, and has worked in several post-season games.
