Jets chairman and CEO Christopher Johnson doesn’t sound too pleased with his team.
Before the Jets lost Sunday in Jacksonville, Johnson was recorded telling a fan, “hopefully the team will actually show up this week,” according to a video shared to Twitter.
It did not, as the Jets again looked terrible in a 29-15 defeat.
The fan told Johnson they had traveled nine hours to Jacksonville, which set off the exchange.
The Jets were coming off a miserable 33-0 loss to the Patriots, and after Sunday’s loss, fell to 1-6 this season.
Johnson’s team came in with bigger expectations than in years past, with head coach Adam Gase and GM Joe Douglas taking over to lead the Sam Darnold era.
But Darnold’s illness and weaknesses elsewhere on the roster will almost certainly leave the Jets without a playoff berth for the ninth consecutive season.
On Monday, they traded Leonard Williams to the Giants, with more moves likely before Tuesday’s 4 p.m. trade deadline.
