Robin Lopez embroiled in case of stolen Disney memorabilia

Bucks center and longtime Disney fan Robin Lopez is said to have unknowingly purchased stolen park memorabilia, according to court records viewed by the Orlando Sentinel.

The pieces in question belonged to a retired animatronic character named Buzzy, who was based at Epcot’s Cranium Command attraction. The apparel, including a bomber jacket, headphones, and a green hat, went missing last year, per the authorities. The accessories are said to be valued at $7,000.

Lopez, who played the 2015-’16 season with the Knicks, is said to have acquired Buzzy’s clothing from former Disney employee Patrick Spikes. The two connected on eBay, Lopez’s friend and fellow Disney fan, Brett Finely, told authorities in an April interview. Finley said he and Lopez were told the items were not stolen, according to the outlet.

Spikes and his cousin Blaytin Taunton are accused of stealing merchandise from Disney. They have pleaded not guilty.

Lopez and his twin brother Brook are known to be huge fans of the Disney franchise and parks. Robin has previously shared photos from Epcot visits on social media, and frequently tweets about the House of Mouse, including its exclusive Club 33.
