An elderly cyclist was struck by a minivan in Brooklyn and is in critical condition, police said Wednesday.
The victim — in his 70s or 80s — allegedly ran a red light while crossing Ocean Parkway on Avenue P in Midwood just after 10 a.m. when the minivan, driving northbound on Ocean Parkway, collided with him, police said.
The driver, a 36-year-old man, stayed on the scene and the bicyclist was taken to Maimonides Medical Center.
No arrests have been made at this time.
As of Oct. 18, 25 bicyclists have been killed in car crashes in New York City, according to city data.
