‘Days of Our Lives’ is back as a digital series

Don’t hold a funeral for “Days of Our Lives” yet.

Last week, the long-running NBC soap –which has aired over 13,000 episodes since its 1965 debut — made headlines when it released its actors from their contracts, an ominous sign for its future.

But now Variety reports it’s launching a digital reunion series called “Last Blast Reunion,” coming to the DOOL app starting Nov 29.

In what is intended as a “companion” to the original show, 9 characters return for a Salem High class reunion, including actors Brandon Beemer, Martha Madison, Nadia Bjorlin, Heather Lindell, Aaron Van Wagner and Lindsay Hollister.

Van Wagner, 41, is back as Jason Welles, who he played from 2000 to 2007. Hollister, 42, will return as Susan Adamson, her 2001 role. Teressa Liane, 31, has been recast in the role of Mimi Lockhart, previously played by Farah Fath, 35, from 1999 to 2007.

Beemer, 39, will continue starring as Shawn Douglas Brady, who he has played in the NBC show since 2006. Lindell, 37, will return as Jan Spears, her 2004-05 role, while Madison, 42, is back as Belle Black, who she has played since 2005. Bjorlin, 39, will play Chloe Lane, a role she originated in 1999.

“Last Blast Reunion” will be just eight episodes, running a tight seven to ten minutes long, and released weekly. If you don’t have the DOOL App, don’t fear — a week after episodes hit the app, they’ll also be available on all digital platforms, including NBC’s website.

While the linear show’s future is still uncertain in the wake of releasing actors, including grande dame Deidre Hall, 72, from their contracts, this soap isn’t going anywhere — yet.
