President Trump took to Twitter Friday morning to celebrate his “GREAT” surprise visit with US troops in Afghanistan on Thanksgiving.
“Just returned to the United States after spending a GREAT Thanksgiving with our Courageous American Warriors in Afghanistan!” he tweeted, alongside snaps of grinning military men and women.
The four photos show the commander-in-chief addressing the unit in front of an enormous American flag, sitting at a table with service members, and posing with a beaming gaggle of soldiers.
Trump’s Turkey Day surprise visit was his first-ever time in Afghanistan as president.
While there, he served dinner to the troops and announced he’d reopened peace talks with the Taliban.
