This Bill Belichick press conference could not be more awkward
There was certainly an uncomfortable chill in the air during Bill Belichick’s postgame press conference on Sunday after the Patriots fell to the Texans, 28-22.
The three-minute engagement featured a somber Belichick, whose criticism was sprinkled throughout several moments of awkward silence.
“There’s really not a whole lot to say here, the Texans did a did a good job tonight all the way across the board,” Belichick said. “In every area, they were just better than we were tonight.”
New England was plagued with a number of setbacks this week, including illnesses, prompting one reporter to ask if that impacted the team’s play.
“I don’t know,” Belichick responded, followed by a few painfully silent seconds.
The defeat dropped the Patriots to the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoff race behind the Ravens. New England holds a one-game lead over the Bills in the AFC East.
