Refinery29 editorial workers will be covered by Vice Media’s union agreement
Refinery29, which had not finalized a union contract when it was acquired by Vice Media in November, will now have its editorial workers covered by the collective bargaining agreement hammered out by Vice management and the Writers Guild of America, East.
The pact guarantees a minimum starting salary of $52,000 and allows a union representative to accompany any employee who files a complaint with human resources.
Forty-two editorial employees at Refinery29 will be covered by the collective bargaining agreement, which expires on Dec. 31, 2021.
Prior to the merger, Refinery 29 editorial staffers had opted to join the WGAE. and the union was in the process of negotiating with management for its first ever contract when the company was sold.
