Here are the 10 New York City neighborhoods to watch in 2020 per a StreetEasy report out Thursday. The listings site uses increases in sales prices, rents and user searches — as well as the number of new buildings — to determine which areas are poised to take off in the next year.
Williamsburg, Brooklyn
The median rent is $3,200, up 7 percent from last year. The median sales price is $1.3 million, up 2 percent from last year. Searches in the neighborhood on listings site StreetEasy, which conducted the study, increased 48 percent from the year prior, and 41 new buildings are on the way.
Clinton Hill, Brooklyn
The median rent is $3,000, up 10 percent from last year. The median sales price is $980,000, up 9 percent from last year. Searches in the neighborhood increased 21 percent from the year prior, and 13 new buildings are on the way.
Jamaica, Queens
The median rent is $2,170, up 5 percent from last year. The median sales price is $649,000, up 10 percent from last year. Searches in the neighborhood increased 44 percent from the year prior, and nine new buildings are on the way.
Midwood, Brooklyn
The median rent is $1,895, up 6 percent from last year. The median sales price is $758,999, up 3 percent from last year. Searches in the neighborhood increased 28 percent from the year prior, and 18 new buildings are on the way.
Highbridge, The Bronx
The median rent is $1,850, up 3 percent from last year. The median sales price is $180,000, up 8 percent from last year. Searches in the neighborhood increased 55 percent from the year prior, and seven new buildings are on the way.
East Flatbush, Brooklyn
The median rent is $2,115, up 1 percent from last year. The median sales price is $645,000, up 8 percent from last year. Searches in the neighborhood increased 58 percent from the year prior, and 18 new buildings are on the way.
Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn
The median rent is $2,350, up 4 percent from last year. The median sales price is $1.3 million, up 13 percent from last year. Searches in the neighborhood increased 23 percent from the year prior, and nine new buildings are on the way.
Glendale, Queens
The median rent is $2.125, up 6 percent from last year. The median sales price is $829,999, up 5 percent from last year. Searches in the neighborhood increased 47 percent from the year prior, and one new building is on the way.
Little Italy, Manhattan
The median rent is $3,300, up 10 percent from last year. The median sales price is $2.99 million, up 66 percent from last year. Searches in the neighborhood increased 24 percent from the year prior, and no new buildings are on the way.
Crown Heights, Brooklyn
The median rent is $2,499, up 4 percent from last year. The median sales price is $1.07 million, up 2 percent from last year. Searches in the neighborhood increased 21 percent from the year prior, and 12 new buildings are on the way.
