A 30-year-old attorney who vanished a week ago in Atlanta was still missing Friday — and loved ones were searching for answers, according to new reports.
Demetrice Allen — who has been living and working as an attorney in Orlando, Florida for the past year — was staying with his godparents in Atlanta while he was in town interviewing for a job in Delta Airlines’ legal department, according to a Facebook post by the Missing Pieces Network.
He went out with his law school roommate to TEN ATL lounge the night of Dec. 6, according to the post.
The roommate, Chris Whitmore, told 11 Alive that he and his girlfriend left TEN ATL with Allen to go to another establishment, The Graveyard Tavern.
He and his girlfriend were still on the dance floor when Allen left around 2 a.m., and called his pal to say he was headed to The Cookout, another restaurant.
“I tried to follow up the next day to figure out how to split the check, but the phone went straight to voicemail,” Whitmore told the station.
At that point, Whitmore found out that his friend never returned home — an act that was out of character for Allen.
“When he does go out, he says he’ll [be] back. He literally comes in right at 2 [in the morning],” his godfather James Handley, Sr. told the outlet. “We just want him home.”
Friend LaShauna Wint told FOX 6 that Allen also texted her that he was going to The Cookout.
“We don’t know, at the moment, if he ever made it to The Cookout, but we just know that he never made it back home to where he was staying,” said Wint. “Everyone is starting to lose hope, even though we’re praying for the best.”
“This is totally unusual behavior,” Wint added. “This is not the Demetrice that we know.”
A report has been filed with the South Fulton Police Department.
Allen is described as 5-foot-9 and 220 pounds with brown eyes, close-cropped black hair and facial hair. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, tan shirt, black jeans, and black Jordan sneakers.
He drives a gray 2015 BMW 328i with Ohio plate HMT1084 that has not been located.
He graduated from the Moritz College of Law at Ohio State University completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater.
