Baby, it’s extremely cold outside.
Teeth-rattling temperatures are gripping the Big Apple, making Thursday the coldest day of the season so far this year.
“It’s cold today and the wind is not helping at all,” AccuWeather senior meteorologist Paul Walker told The Post.
Thursday’s temperatures were expected to remain well below freezing with a high of 27 degrees and a bone-chilling low of 20 degrees, but wind gusts of between 35 and 40 mph will make it “feel like it’s in the single digits,” said Walker.
“This is the coldest it’s been all season,” he said.
For those who have to venture outside for extended periods of time, the meteorologist advised taking “some breaks, get indoors” and “be sure to cover up exposed skin.”
“You can get wind burns,” Walker said.
The winds will “let up” by Thursday night, he added.
Temperatures for Friday are forecast to hover near freezing, but luckily “there will be lots of sunshine” and substantially less wind, according to Walker, who noted that the real-feel temps are expected to be in the low to mid-20s.
Forecasts for Saturday show partly sunny skies with a high of 33 degrees and a low of 27 degrees, while Sunday could provide some relief for New Yorkers with a high of 42 degrees and a low of 33 degrees, as well as partly sunny skies.
Walker noted that the blistering cold temperatures this week are “well below normal” since normal temperatures for this time of year range in the low 40s.
