A 33-year-old man fatally stabbed his wife with a butcher knife and injured her son in an attack that was witnessed by five other children inside the couple’s Philadelphia home early Christmas morning, a report said.
The suspect was found by cops standing over the 35-year-old victim — who had multiple stab wounds to the abdomen — outside the home at about 3:30 a.m., according to WPVI, citing police.
“[The children] said the 33-year-old male stabbed the 35-year-old female inside the property, chased her outside, and continued to stab her when she was outside,” Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters, according to the report.
The mother was taken to the hospital and declared dead.
The other victim, a 14-year-old boy, was found inside the home with stab wounds to his thigh. He was hospitalized in stable condition.
At some point during the attack, one of the children at the home intervened, taking the knife used by the suspect and hiding it inside a second-floor bedroom, cops said.
The children, ranging in age from 8 to 16, identified the husband as the suspect, cops said. He was taken into custody at the scene.
Police said all the occupants inside the home are related in some way, the report said.
