The head of the Central Park South Civic Association again called upon President Trump to step into the city’s homelessness crisis Saturday.
“I see Trump in action and he seems to be getting a lot of things done,” Michael Fischer said at a press conference to call attention to a letter he sent earlier this week to the president.
The civic association opposes a city plan to turn the former Park Savoy Hotel on West 58th Street along ritzy “Billionaire’s Row” into a homeless shelter for 150 men. They group claims the building is a fire trap.
Fischer said he had not received a response to his letter, but Trump tweeted Saturday that “California and New York must do something about their TREMENDOUS Homeless problems. They are setting records! If their Governors can’t handle the situation, which they should be able to do very easily, they must call and “politely” ask for help. Would be so easy with competence!“
