Disgraced Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn flees Japan for Lebanon before trial

Disgraced former Nissan Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn landed at a Lebanese airport on Monday — news that likely surprised the Japanese prosecutors who banned him from leaving the country pending trial for financial crimes.

Ghosn has been accused of falsifying accounting records to misrepresent his full compensation.

Japanese authorities released him on an $8.9 million bond in March, but he was restricted from leaving the country per the terms of his release.

The sullied executive spent his childhood in Lebanon and was returning from that country when he was first arrested by Japanese authorities in November of last year.

Per a report from The Wall Street Journal, Ghosn is planning to address the media in Beirut during the next few days.
