A teen boy who perished in the same Louisiana plane crash as sports reporter Carley McCord died just one day before his 16th birthday, according to a new report.
Michael “Walker” Vincent, 15, and his mom, 51-year-old Gretchen Vincent were among the five passengers killed on the doomed flight headed to the Peach Bowl in Atlanta Saturday morning to cheer on the Louisiana State University Tigers, The Advocate reported.
Michael was set to 16 Sunday, and his birthday cake was in the family’s fridge, according to the report.
His father, Chris Vincent, who was not on board the flight, brought the cake to a family friend’s home Sunday to celebrate the day in his memory, the outlet reported.
Classmates from the Ascension Episcopal School joined his loved ones, singing “Happy Birthday” and presenting Chris with a poster board of handwritten memories.
“I love and miss you so much. I grew up with you my whole life, and I will not forget one second we had together,” pal Cole Simon wrote, according to the outlet.
The teen’s father, who is president of tech company Global Data Systems, also lost two colleagues in the fatal crash.
Robert Vaughn Crisp II, 59, served as the vice president of operations and was killed along with the plane’s pilot, Ian E. Biggs, a 51-year-old aircraft manager for the company, according to LinkedIn.
McCord, whose father-in-law was LSU coach Steven Ensminger, was invited on the plane by Gretchen Vincent, Sports Illustrated reported.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
