Jennifer Aniston smirks during Brad Pitt’s Golden Globes 2020 speech
That was savage, Golden Globes.
Not only was Jennifer Aniston in the same room as ex Brad Pitt for the Golden Globes, but she gave a little smirk during his speech.
Cameras panned to the actress, 50, during Pitt’s acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his role in “Once Upon a Time in … Hollywood,” where she sat in the audience behind Beyoncé and near her “The Morning Show” co-star Reese Witherspoon.
During the speech, Pitt, 56, joked that he didn’t bring his mother to the ceremony for fear that the tabloids would run wild.
“I wanted to bring my mom, but I couldn’t because anyone I stand next to they say I’m dating. It’d just be awkward,” he said as cameras captured Aniston’s reaction.
Aniston and Pitt were married for five years, from 2000 to 2005. Aniston split from Justin Theroux in 2017, and Pitt divorced Angelina Jolie in 2016.
Immediately, Twitter went wild noting the clever camerawork. “Thank you to the camera person who panned to Jennifer Aniston during this Brad Pitt line,” one fan wrote. “Me scanning the audience for Jennifer Aniston while Brad Pitt was making his acceptance speech,” joked another.
Earlier in the night, Pitt told Entertainment Tonight that he welcomed the idea of running into his ex at the Golden Globes.
“I’d run into Jen,” he said. “She’s a good friend.”
Pitt also joked it would be the “second-most important” reunion for her this year, alluding to her “Friends” reunion that nearly broke the internet.
The actor was full of jokes during his speech, in which he referred to his “Once Upon a Time” co-star Leonardo DiCaprio as “LDC.”
“I want to thank my partner-in-crime, LDC,” Pitt said of DiCaprio. “You know, before ‘The Revenant,’ I used to watch, year after year, his co-stars accept awards and get up and thank him profusely. I know why. He’s an all-star, he’s a gent, and I wouldn’t be here without you, man. I thank you.”
