Brother of missing Idaho kids makes plea to ‘doomsday’ mom: ‘Do the right thing’
The oldest brother of two missing Idaho children made an emotional plea to his doomsday-obsessed mother, who stopped cooperating in the case, to “do the right thing.”
Colby Ryan, 23, shared a video Sunday directed at his mother, Lori Vallow Daybell, a doomsday cult member whose two youngest children have vanished under mysterious circumstances, news station KSTU reported.
“You have the power to end this,” Ryan said in the YouTube video. “You have an opportunity to put this all to rest.”
Law enforcement has been searching for Daybell’s two youngest children, Tylee Ryan, 17, and Joshua “JJ” Vallow, 7, since November, when a relative called authorities to do a welfare check on Joshua, who is adopted and has special needs.
The Rexburg Police Department believes Lori “knows either the location of the children or what has happened to them” but she abruptly stopped cooperating in the investigation after initially claiming the boy was with a family friend in Arizona.
“She has refused to work with law enforcement to help us resolve this matter,” the department said.
Her oldest son begged her in the video to show authorities Tylee and Joshua on FaceTime.
“I know you know [what] the right thing to do is and I know you have a good heart,” Colby said. “It’s time to do the right thing.”
He said he has been “hurt and confused” by the situation and desperately wants to see his siblings.
“I can’t even fathom this is happening to our family,” Colby said. “I grew up with you. I grew up with Tylee and JJ as my siblings.”
