A frostbitten New Jersey woman was rescued from a clothing bin she’d been trapped inside for three days, according to reports.
Emergency services were called to the bizarre rescue Monday morning after a passerby heard screams from inside the large bin on Broadway in Paterson, NBC 4 New York said.
Firefighters eventually managed to use spreading tools to open up the bottom of the container and free the 38-year-old woman, the report says.
Once out, the unidentified woman, who is apparently homeless, told cops that someone had pushed her as she was reaching into the bin Friday night, causing her to fall inside and become trapped all weekend, authorities told the station.
The woman was taken to St. Joseph’s Medical Center for frostbite, according to WABC.
Paterson Police Director Gerald Speziale told NBC that officers are dubious about her story, noting that it is the third time in two years she’s been rescued from inside a clothing bin.
