Alex Cora’s Red Sox firing is only start of his MLB nightmare

It may only get worse for Alex Cora, the disgraced Red Sox manager who was fired Tuesday, a day after MLB revealed he helped orchestrate the Astros’ sign-stealing methodology.

According to The Post’s Joel Sherman, Cora’s dismissal won’t stop MLB from further disciplining the 44-year-old, including a possible suspension.

The league currently is investigating the Red Sox’s possible use of electronics to steal signs in 2018, when Boston won the World Series in Cora’s first season as manager.

MLB on Monday came down hard on the Astros for illegally stealing pitchers’ signs when they won the World Series in 2017, which the league determined Cora played a big role in. (The Astros also cheated in 2018, the league found.)

According to the league’s report, Cora “arranged for a video room technician to install a monitor displaying the center field camera feed immediately outside of the Astros’ dugout.”

Commissioner Rob Manfred suspended manager A.J. Hinch and GM Jeff Luhnow one season each, and both subsequently were fired by Houston owner Jim Crane.

Houston also will have to forfeit its next two first-round and second-round draft picks, and it will be fined $5 million.
