Jimmy Garoppolo can’t be perfect at everything.
Responding to a comment made by 49ers tight end George Kittle about being the “worst texter” ever, the quarterback admitted his messaging skills aren’t exactly championship caliber.
“That’s very true,” Garoppolo told reporters Wednesday during a Super Bowl 2020 media session, per For The Win.
“There’s a little asterisk around there. I will get back to him most of the time, it just happens three hours later than what he texted me. I don’t know, I’m just bad at it, I’ll look at my phone and say, ‘All right, I’ll text you in two minutes,’ put it down and then the next day comes and I’m like, ‘Damn.'”
In a Super Bowl leadup that has been devoid of bad blood between the 49ers and Chiefs, this could be the harshest trash talk we’ve seen coming out of Miami.
Kittle discussed Garoppolo’s texting abilities Monday during Super Bowl Opening Night, telling the media that Garoppolo is the “worst texter of all time.”

“I’m telling you, he leaves me on ‘Read’ all the time. I’ll be like, ‘Hey Jimmy, I’ve got a question. Maybe on this play, should I run my route like this?’ No response. ‘Jimmy, want to go to a movie?’ No response. And then next day he’s like, ‘Yeah, I got your text. I just didn’t respond.’ Thanks, Jim. That’s awesome. So yeah, he’s a bad texter. Bad communication,” Kittle said, via NBCSAuthentic.
It’s unclear if Garoppolo responded to former Patriots teammate Tom Brady in a timely manner, as the Patriots quarterback wished his former backup well ahead of the Super Bowl showdown with the Chiefs.
