A 41-year-old cyclist riding through Brooklyn was struck and killed by a box truck — becoming the first bicycle death of the new year after a deadly 2019, cops said.
The fatal accident occurred just after 2:45 p.m. Thursday, when the unidentified pedal-pusher was hit by a commercial truck while riding south on Vandervoort Avenue in East Williamsburg, according to police.
The 2005 Isuzu stake bed truck’s 54-year-old driver smashed into the biker as he was turning into a garage near Rewe Street, according to police and photos from the scene.
The bicyclist was rushed to Woodhull Medical Center, where he died, cops said.
The truck driver remained on the scene. No arrests or summonses have been issued, and the NYPD is investigating.
