Tom Brady ignites wild theories with cryptic tweet

Tom Brady just threw gasoline on an already ablaze rumor mill.

In an eerie, uncaptioned, black-and-white photo posted to Twitter and Instagram on Thursday, the Patriots’ beloved signal-caller stands at the entryway to the tunnel to a stadium. It’s unclear if he’s at Gillette Stadium or elsewhere, as is the direction in which Brady is walking, provoking more questions than answers surrounding the future Hall of Famer’s next chapter.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the image is “not related to Tom Brady’s football future,” though this isn’t the first cryptic message the six-time Super Bowl champion has made this offseason.

After the Patriots’ season ended abruptly in the wild-card round to the Titans, Brady posted a lengthy Instagram that thanked New England fans and ended with, “I still have more to prove.”

A photo of Brady with Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis at UFC 246 went viral, sparking the theory that he could be headed to Las Vegas as the team embarks on their inaugural season in their new home.

A day later, he told Westwood One he was “open-minded” about leaving the Patriots.

“At the same time, I love playing football and I want to continue to play and do a great job. I’m looking forward to what’s ahead. Whatever the future may bring, I’ll embrace it with open arms,” Brady said.

The 42-year old quarterback is about to jump into the untested waters of free agency for the first time in his career. The Patriots, who are unable to franchise tag Brady due to a stipulation in his most recent contract extension, have until March 18 to re-sign him.

Experts have speculated he could be headed to any number of quarterback-needy teams, including the Raiders, Chargers and Buccaneers.

“Please leave the AFC East! 😭😭😭😭,” Jets safety Jamal Adams responded.

Brady also moved his family into a $9 million Greenwich, Conn., home after listing their 10,000-square-foot mansion in Brookline, Mass. for sale in 2019. The move led many to believe he would not rejoin the team next season.
