Elderly man reverses car into Walgreens, smashing entrance
Shards of glass peppered the vestibule and sidewalk of a Brooklyn drugstore after an elderly man drove his car into the facade — demolishing the entrance, cops said Tuesday.
The unfortunate accident happened just after 3 p.m. Monday when an 84-year-old man, thinking he was hitting the brake, accelerated backward into the front of a Walgreens at the corner of Flatlands and Utica avenues, police said.
Video posted to Citizen and photos from the scene show the metal doors of the chain store bent and dinged, splayed awkwardly on the ground, which is littered with pamphlets.
The elderly driver refused medical attention at the scene and does not face criminal charges for the accident, cops said.
