As he addressed Congress, Trump surprised Amy Williams by bringing out her husband, Sgt. First Class Townsend Williams, who had been deployed in Afghanistan.
“Tonight we have a very special surprise. I am thrilled to inform you that your husband is back from deployment,” Trump told Williams, who attended the speech with the couple’s two children, Elliana, 6, and Rowan, 3.
Prior to the emotional moment, Trump had praised the North Carolina mother who “works full time, and volunteers countless hours helping other military families.”
“Amy’s kids have not seen their father’s face in many months,” Trump said. “Amy, your family’s sacrifice makes it possible for all of our families to live in safety and peace — and we want to thank you.”
