Amari Cooper shot down a viral rumor he was involved in a gun incident in Dallas.
The Dallas Cowboys’ wide receiver responded to a tweet Wednesday claiming he’d been shot in a Dallas parking garage, posting on Instagram: “That was fake news ya’ll, everything good over here.”
“The Offseason,” the Twitter account that originally posted the rumor of the shooting, has since been deleted from the social media site.
“There has been a tweet going viral that Amari Cooper has been shot in the Dallas area,” the Dallas Police Department posted Wednesday on Twitter. “We have NOT found any validity to that tweet occurring in the city of #Dallas. At this time, there has been NO shooting incident occurring in the city of Dallas.”
Former Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant also tweeted that he heard from Cooper.
“This world have some real messed up folks in it… coop just text me,” Bryant wrote. “I don’t get it…why would anybody start a rumor like that?? Weirdos seriously.”
