Tom Brady plans free-agency setup as NFL interest grows

Tom Brady is planning to ditch the typical free-agent recruitment dance, according to NBC Sports Boston, which could be a sign the six-time Super Bowl champion is drawing a lot of interest from other teams.

According to Tuesday’s report, Brady is considering setting up a single location to meet teams who are interested in the six-time Super Bowl champion.

Though official free agency is still a month away, Brady and his agent, Don Yee, are already hearing from teams that would be inclined to sign him, according to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio. The fact that Brady and his camp are considering this approach likely means multiple teams are interested in the veteran signal caller.

There are football and business reasons why Brady could have a long list of teams interested in him.

Though Brady will turn 43 on Aug. 3, he still is regarded by many as one of the best quarterbacks in the league. Perhaps more importantly for those teams, any new squad that signs the legendary quarterback would be expected to make big profits off jersey and ticket sales.

Earlier, Brady had a message for the haters who think he should retire or that his legendary days are in the past.

The quarterback, who has played 20 seasons with the Patriots, posted a few clips from his workout with wife Gisele Bündchen on Instagram while sharing a few messages with critics.

“Go ahead and bet against me,” Brady posted to one Instagram story, showing off his TB12 “Gratitude & Determination 20” apparel.

“And you think you’ve seen the best of me,” he continued, adding, “I’m grateful for you doubting me and I’m determined to prove you wrong … again.”
