Trump accuses Bloomberg of breaking the law as Twitter feud escalates

Michael Bloomberg and President Trump continued to trade barbs on Twitter Wednesday, with the commander-in-chief wondering if the former mayor’s media empire will accurately report on Wednesday night’s Democratic debate.

“Is corrupt Bloomberg News going to say what a pathetic debater Mini Mike is, that he doesn’t respect our great farmers, or that he has violated campaign finance laws at the highest and most sinister level with ‘payoffs’ all over the place?,” Trump posted on the social messaging site Wednesday morning.

About 15 minutes later, Bloomberg responded.

“Impeached president says what?,” he wrote on Twitter.

The former New York mayor and Trump also tussled on Tuesday after the president implied Bloomberg was using his fortune, estimated to be $60 billion, to push past the other Democratic candidates.

“Mini is illegally buying the Democrat Nomination. They are taking it away from Bernie again. Mini Mike, Major Party Nominations are not for sale! Good luck in the debate tomorrow night and remember, no standing on boxes!,” Trump wrote, referring to Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Once again, Bloomberg wrote back.

“Why do you want to run against Bernie so badly?,” he asked.

“Mini Mike. No, I would rather run against you!,” the president shot back.

“Can’t trust a word you say – and now you want us to believe you? See you in November,” Bloomberg retorted.

Bloomberg, who has spent more than $400 million on campaign ads, has climbed in the national surveys and on Tuesday he crossed the polling threshold required to participate in Wednesday evening’s Democratic primary debate in Las Vegas.

The two billionaires also went at each other last week on Twitter in an exchange of schoolyard taunts.

Trump called Bloomberg a “loser” and Bloomberg responded by describing Trump as a “carnival barking clown.”
