Florida woman who fatally stabbed dad with arrow smiles at sentencing
A Florida woman smiled to family members in court Thursday before she was sentenced to 30 years in prison for fatally stabbing her father 69 times.
Amber Maltese pleaded guilty to second-degree murder at a court in Brevard County for the heinous February 2015 killing of her father, Alfred Megathlin, at his Melbourne condo, according to WESH.
The daughter, who was receiving mental health treatment before the murder, used arrows, a knife and a picture frame to carry out the deadly attack on her 60-year-old dad, police said.
Following the fatal 2015 stabbing, Maltese, wearing only underwear, hopped in a car and intentionally rammed a police car — leading to a high-speed pursuit.
She eventually surrendered, getting out of the car without placing it in park.
Maltese had just been released from a facility for mental health treatment on the day she killed her father, WESH reported, citing court records.
