BTS and Green Day nixed upcoming performances in Asia on Thursday due to fears over the coronavirus outbreak.
K-pop megastars BTS announced that the four shows scheduled for Seoul in April have been canceled. Coronavirus cases in South Korea have risen dramatically in the past two weeks.
“We must take into consideration the health and safety of hundreds of thousands of guests as well as our artists,” the agency said.
More than 200,000 fans of the South Korean band were expected to attend the concerts at Olympic Stadium.
Green Day, meanwhile, was expected to kick off the Asian portion of their tour on March 8 in Singapore.
The iconic punk rock band announced on Instagram they were nixing the dates — which included stops in Thailand, Hong Kong and South Korea.
“We have unfortunately made the difficult decision to postpone our upcoming shows in Asia due to the health + travel concerns with coronavirus,” they wrote.
The group indicated they intend to reschedule the shows.
“We know it sucks, as we were looking forward to seeing you all, but hold on to your tickets we’ll be announcing the new dates very soon.”
