Manhattan’s Metropolitan Correctional Center was on lockdown and had visitations suspended Friday after officials learned that a gun might have been smuggled into the federal jail, sources said.
Prison authorities began conducting a search for the possible weapon Thursday evening, sources told the Post.
The jail currently holds disgraced Nike bribery lawyer Michael Avenatti, and formerly housed pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and narcotics kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman.
Representatives with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Manhattan told The Post MCC was on modified operations due to an investigation and declined to comment further.
