Cops arrest man accused of stabbing subway patrons who opened gate for him
The straphanger who mooched a ride and then stabbed the men who opened the subway gate for him has been arrested, police said Monday.
Ramziddin Trowell asked two men to open the subway gate at the Morris Avenue Station in the Bronx early Saturday, then allegedly stabbed the straphangers after they got into an argument while waiting for the train, cops said.
Police arrived around 4:30 a.m. to find the two men bleeding at the bottom of the stairs of the southbound platform, police said.
Trowell, 42, fled after the vicious attack and was arrested in The Bronx around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.
One of his alleged victims, 25-year-old Rudolph Dunning of Brooklyn, was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The other victim, who remains unidentified, was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi in stable condition, cops said.
Trowell has a history of arrests for violent crimes, including assault, robbery and attempted murder, police said.
He was charged with murder, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
Trowell was expected to be arraigned Monday.
