Patrick Mahomes isn’t the only quarterback enjoying some R&R in Cabo this offseason.
The Browns’ Baker Mayfield and wife Emily Wilkinson jetted to Cabo San Lucas, where they recently vacationed with friends and enjoyed a day-cruise. She also posted a “photobomb” from the third-year quarterback to her Instagram story.
Things appear to be looking up for Mayfield, who was recently accused of cheating on his wife, as the Heisman Trophy winner is set to be honored by his alma mater next month. The University of Oklahoma will unveil a statue of him ahead of an April 18 game.
“That will be a part of the game,” Sooners coach Lincoln Riley said, according to the Browns’ website. “Instead of a ceremony outside the stadium, why not include all 50, 60, 70,000 whatever is there, why not include all of them in that moment. It’s going to be a pretty cool, historic moment for the program.”
Mayfield’s college career began at Texas Tech, before transferring to Oklahoma in 2014. He was selected first overall by the Browns in 2018.
Mayfield and Wilkinson have been married since July 2019.
Following a standout rookie campaign, in which Mayfield finished with 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions, he hit a roadblock in 2019 as the Browns fell to 6-10, resulting in the firing of first-year coach Freddie Kitchens. Mayfield is already in the process of transforming himself for the 2020 season, amid recent criticisms about his physique.
