Brooklyn Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein, who is one of two state legislators recently diagnosed with the coronavirus, is telling colleagues that she is in good shape.
“Helene texted me back. She is doing fine,” Assemblywoman and newly elected Brooklyn Democratic Party chairwoman Rodneyse Bichotte said Sunday.
Weinstein, a Democrat, is one of the top leaders in the Assembly and serves as the powerful Ways and Means Committee chairperson who helps craft the budget.
Fellow Brooklyn Assemblyman Charles Barron also is stricken with COVID-19. He has been hospitalized.
He did not respond to a request for comment.
Barron, a former Black Panther and one of the fieriest leftist lawmakers, heckled Gov. Andrew Cuomo at his 2016 State of the State address and was escorted out of the event by authorities. He formerly served in the City Council.
