Charles Davis replacing Dan Fouts in CBS’s NFL booth

CBS Sports is replacing its No. 2 NFL analyst with Fox’s No. 2, The Post has learned.

Sources said Charles Davis is moving from Fox to CBS to team with Ian Eagle on the network’s second team. There is a verbal agreement, but the contracts are not signed yet.

The Post reported earlier Friday that CBS had moved on from Dan Fouts and was eyeing Davis as his replacement. Davis made his decision on Friday.

CBS, which has the Super Bowl next year, has added an extra playoff game in the expanded format that Eagle and Davis will broadcast. There is a chance down the road that Davis, 55, could join CBS’ golf coverage, but that is not set.

Davis’ career took off at Fox, where he called the National Championship in college and playoff games in the pros.

Fox will now have to determine who will replace Davis as Kevin Burkhardt’s partner. Fox had Greg Olsen on its radar to be its No. 2 analyst with Burkhardt this season.

Olsen has been a fast riser as a potential future analyst. He has done games as an active player and worked with Burkhardt on the XFL. There was a strong feeling that Olsen would retire and enter the booth, but the Seahawks offered him $7 million and he is playing one more season.

Fouts has had a long and decorated career on and off the field. A Hall of Fame quarterback with the Chargers, Fouts retired from playing in 1987 and has been a sportscaster for decades, including on “Monday Night Football,” where he teamed with Al Michaels and Dennis Miller.
