Bernie Sanders joined a chat with Cardi B on Instagram Live Tuesday night, comparing manicures and telling the rapper he wants to see Joe Biden become “a more progressive candidate.”
Cardi B, 27, started the video by telling fans she’s felt “so nasty, so unattractive” because of the coronavirus that she finally did her nails — showing off the baby blue shade while wearing an open green and gold jacket over a baby blue sports bra.
“It’s hard to feel good when so many people around you are going through sh–,” the rapper said.
“Some people are using their savings that they had plans for just to live. A lot of pregnant women have to give birth to their kids without their baby father, with no family, just them.”
The Grammy Award winner, who has 62 million followers on Instagram, then teased viewers that she had a special guest who would be joining her Live appearance.
“Uncle Bernie! Big Booty got uncle Bernie in my life!” Cardi shouted in the video. “Uncle Bernie, how you doing?”
Sanders smiled and showed his fingernails to the camera, “I’m good Cardi, I want you to take a look at my nails. How are they looking?”
“They’re looking very quarantine. I can tell you’ve been in quarantine quite a while now by your nails, but you know what, it’s okay,” Cardi B responded.
The “Bronx Season” rapper then went on a rant, slamming Sanders for dropping out of the presidential race.
“I had a fit because I was so hurt and upset that you dropped out of the race and everything,” Cardi said “I keep telling my people and my supporters that you guys really need to go and vote. Now we’re between 45 [President Trump], we ain’t going to name him over here, and Joe Biden,” Cardi said.
“And you know me, since I’ve been so on you and so focused on you I haven’t done my research on Joe Biden.” The rapper, who then said she’s going to vote for Biden, asks Sanders why he endorsed the presumptive Democratic nominee.
“One thing is, like the youth, they don’t really rock with Joe Biden because he’s conservative,” Cardi said. She continued, saying that she was “excited” that both President Obama and Sanders endorsed the former veep.
Sanders answered that he always intended to endorse whatever Democrat won the nomination. “Donald Trump, in my mind, is the most dangerous president in the modern history of America,” Sanders said.
Sanders then slams “bad news guy” Trump for thinking “he is above the law.” “What I’m also trying to do right now cards is to work with Joe to see that he becomes a more progressive candidate,” Sanders said.
Sanders said he wants Biden to stand for, “which he will,” a minimum wage of at least $15 an hour and canceling student debt. “I would go further in all of these areas than he goes, but he is moving in the right direction,” Sanders said. “He’s moving the right direction on immigration reform, and I think you’ll be pleased with what he has to stay. I think you’ll be hearing him make some pretty strong statements on criminal justice reform.”
