NYPD cops probed for curse-laden megaphone rant caught on video
This is what happens when the NYPD gets really blue.
A cop was caught going on a curse-laden tirade over his vehicle’s megaphone in Hell’s Kitchen — telling a disturbed man who was shouting on the street to “Shut the f–k up before I smack the s–t outta ya,” a new video shows.
The graphic back-and-forth occurred sometime Wednesday night at West 49th Street and Eighth Avenue, according to the Twitter user who posted a video of the outburst Thursday.
The unknown man can be heard in the clip screaming incoherently “we gone f–k you up” on the sidewalk as a police SUV pulls up to the curb near him — and the officers can soon be heard responding through the unit’s loudspeaker.
“Shut up! F–k you and shut up! F–k you. Suck a fat one!” the cop can be heard saying on the video, as the pedestrian continues to shout.
“Shut the f–k up before I smack the s–t outta ya,” the cop eventually says.
The unknown man keeps rambling at a lower voice. Much of what he says is indiscernible, except for when the cruiser starts to roll away and he repeatedly screams, “Stop! Stop now!”
“Shut the f–k up! Lick my b—s! F–k you!” the officer in the vehicle exclaims as the patrol slowly moves into the intersection before the video ends.
Chief Edward Delatorre responded to the user who posted the video on Twitter that he was “equally alarmed by the footage” and said, “our internal investigators are looking into the matter.”
The NYPD acknowledge the incident and it was investigating but did not comment further.
“This incident was put under investigation immediately and that internal investigation will be conducted as expeditiously as possible,” the NYPD said in a statement on Twitter.
