Bill Simmons mansion story killed over ‘security issues’

The Hollywood trade publication Variety removed a story about sports media personality Bill Simmons’ purchase of a $16 million house because of security concerns.

“Security issues were brought to Variety’s attention and the decision was made to unpublish the story,” Variety spokesman Jeffrey Schneider said.

Simmons did not immediately return a message seeking comment.

In 2018, it was reported that Simmons had a temporary restraining order against an ex-Ringer employee.

The story, first published on Variety’s website (and syndicated by The Post), detailed Simmons’ multiple home purchases, which highlighted his financial success. Simmons rose to national prominence as a sports columnist for ESPN.

After leaving ESPN, Simmons started The Ringer, which he just sold for a reported $200 million.
