Joe Biden says black jogger Ahmaud Arbery was ‘killed in cold blood’
Joe Biden is demanding justice for the unarmed black jogger who was shot to death by a pair of white men in Georgia — calling it a cold-blooded “murder.”
“The video is clear: Ahmaud Arbery was killed in cold blood,” the presidential hopeful insisted of the 25-year-old jogger’s shocking, caught-on-camera shooting.
“My heart goes out to his family, who deserve justice and deserve it now,” Biden wrote on Twitter late Tuesday.
“It is time for a swift, full, and transparent investigation into his murder.”
Arbery’s death in Brunswick on Feb. 23 sparked outrage this week after footage of the shooting was released.
A grand jury is set to hear evidence and weigh charges against father and son Gregory and Travis McMichael, who reportedly said they were looking for a burglar when they saw Arbery running.
“These men were vigilantes, they were a posse and they performed a modern lynching in the middle of the day,” insisted S. Lee Merritt, an attorney for Arbery’s family.
Biden was joined by other politicians outraged after seeing the video, including a former Democratic primary rival, Bernie Sanders.
“The men who murdered Ahmaud Arbery must be held accountable and there must justice for Ahmaud’s family,” Sanders tweeted.
“There is no doubt in my mind that Ahmaud would be alive today if he were white.”
