Tom Brady proved to be the easiest target during a promotional Zoom call for the upcoming, “The Match: Champions for Charity,” with Peyton Manning, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.
The match is scheduled for May 24 at 3 p.m. and will air on TNT, TBS, TruTV and HLN. The event, which will benefit coronavirus relief efforts, will pit Woods and Manning against Mickelson and Brady.
While discussing the event, which will take place at the Prestigious Medalist Golf Club in Florida, Manning poked fun at Brady’s run-in with Tampa Bay law enforcement for “breaking and entering.” The former Colts and Broncos star quarterback joked that the match had to take place in Florida because Brady couldn’t leave the state with his ankle monitor.
Manning, 44, seemingly couldn’t help himself and kept taking digs at Brady.
“I’ll be honest, I’ve never played Tom very well on his home turf and so maybe this is considered a neutral site,” he said. “I would’ve loved to have this tournament in a place where they don’t like Tom very much: Indianapolis, Denver, Boston, you know, after he betrayed them and broke their hearts.”
Too soon? Brady, who left the Patriots for the Buccaneers this offseason, was a good sport and laughed along with everyone else. Brady even tweeted out the clip and wrote, “Sorry not sorry…”
Manning continued the trash talk throughout the call, pointing out how Mickelson and Brady have just 11 championships together while he and Woods have 17.
