Stephanie McMahon will never forget her first kiss from now-husband Triple H.
Reflecting on the “butterfly moment,” McMahon said she was taken aback when the former wrestler — whose real name is Paul Michael Levesque — kissed her ahead of his Royal Rumble fight against Mick Foley at Madison Square Graden in 2000.
“I walked Triple H out in the entranceway and he kissed me,” McMahon said in a recent installment of “WWE Untold,” according to The Sun.
“That was the first time he had ever actually kissed me on the lips, and it kind of took me back because I knew it was in character but was it really in character?” she continued.
“I kind of had the butterfly moment.”
McMahon, 43, and Triple H, 50, were part of on-screen storylines before officially tying the knot in 2003.
“We were goofy around each other, even just saying hello,” McMahon said. “We would go to give each other a hug, and it was super awkward. And try to have a conversation, and you know, you walk away thinking, ‘God, I sounded so stupid, why did I say that?'”
Triple H said he and McMahon were “constantly around each other,” noting: “Didn’t necessarily have to have a reason but would constantly find ourselves in the same places.”
McMahon said any time she was close to Triple H her “heart would race.”
“I’m actually more in love with him every single day, and we have three beautiful daughters, and he’s an incredible father,” she said. “He is my knight in shining armor. He is the man that I dreamed of my entire life.”
McMahon, the chief brand officer of the WWE, shares three daughters with Triple H: Aurora, 13, Murphy, 11, and Vaughn 9. He is currently the WWE’s executive vice president of global talent strategy & development.
