Dead infant found partially eaten by lizards in Thailand

A dead infant who had been partially eaten by lizards was discovered in Thailand last week, a report said.

The infant’s body was found in a black bag near a pond in southern Thailand by a group of boys who were playing near the water on May 10, according to 7 News Australia.

Police responded and determined the infant had been dead for at least two days, according to the report.

The infant had bite marks on its body, which police believe were caused by monitor lizards that typically eat fish and waste near the pond.

Investigators are probing if the infant was already dead when it was left near the pond, or if the lizards killed it, according to the report.

Police believe the infant’s mother likely abandoned it.

“We believe that the cruel mother left her baby by the pond before it was attacked by the monitor lizards,” police Major Col. Jittakorn Konglhue said.
