Louisiana jerk caught on doorbell camera choking girlfriend’s dog, cops say
Disturbing doorbell camera footage shows a jerk in Louisiana choking his girlfriend’s dog after the couple got into an argument, cops said.
Shane Michael Mitchell, 30, was caught abusing the pooch named Rubyjean in the clip Sunday on a Ring camera outside a Slidell apartment, news station WWLT reported.
Mitchell then took off with the pet and refused to return her to his girlfriend, prompting authorities to launch a search, cops said.
Mitchell was ultimately located at an apartment complex in the area Tuesday and taken into custody without incident, police said. He now faces charges of animal cruelty in connection to the video of him abusing the dog.
Meanwhile, Rubyjean was found safe and returned to her rightful owner, according to police.
“I was sick to my stomach watching that video. How someone can do hurt a defenseless animal is beyond me,” Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal said in a statement.
“I had the opportunity to meet Rubyjean this afternoon, and she was as sweet and well-mannered as could be. We are glad this had a happy ending for both the dog and her owner.”
