Crooked former state Assemblyman William Boyland Jr. says his life is in grave danger due to the coronavirus pandemic and wants a judge to let him out of prison early, according to court papers.
The disgraced pol, who is serving a 14-year term for extortion, bribery and mail fraud, argued for compassionate release in court papers filed Wednesday in Brooklyn federal court.
Boyland, who is currently at FCI Schuylkill in Pennsylvania, said in the hand-written motion that he suffers from diabetes, high cholesterol and sleep apnea and could die if he’s infected.
“Petitioner has no second chances if he contracts COVID-19 virus, it is life or death,” Boyland wrote.
He asks the court to either reduce his sentence or release him to home confinement, where he’d stay with his wife in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn.
No inmates or staff have tested positive at Schuylkill, according to the Bureau of Prison’s website.
Boyland, who was sentenced in 2015, is the latest in a string of convicts asking to be sprung from prison early due to the health crisis.
