The reopening of this German cafe went swimmingly.
Cafe & Konditorei Rothe in Schwerin celebrated the easing of the country’s coronavirus lockdown by handing out pool noodles for patrons to wear on their heads as a social-distancing enforcement gimmick, Insider reported.
Customers were pictured sitting outside the eatery last Saturday wearing straw hats with long, colorful foam rolls taped to the top to keep them a safe distance apart.
“In these difficult times it’s a pleasure to make others smile,” restaurant owner Jacqueline Rothe said about the stunt.
Germany has been slowly easing its shutdown since late April.
Most commercial spaces under 8,600 square feet have been allowed to reopen, with social distancing still in place. Masks are also strongly recommended by the government.
