Jets free-agent target Logan Ryan is ‘open for business’

Logan Ryan is from New Jersey. He went to Rutgers. As a free agent, he knows signing with the Jets “makes sense.” But he isn’t ready to take a hometown discount.

While Ryan acknowledged the appeal of joining the Jets — who have had discussions with the 29-year-old cornerback’s representatives — the former Titan claims he isn’t yet close to signing a deal with any team.

“I’m trying to do what’s best for my family and everything like that,” Ryan said Thursday on NFL Network. “Obviously there’s a lot of rumors out there, I can’t confirm any of it because I’m obviously still not signed yet. We’ll see, I obviously want to get a deal done whenever and I’m open to it. We’ll see what happens there, but I’m also open to 30 other franchises except for the Titans, that’s the only one I ruled out this far, so I’m completely open for business.”

Ryan, who was born in Berlin, N.J. and played high school ball at Eastern Regional in Voorhees Township, won a pair of Super Bowl titles with the Patriots after being selected in the third round in 2013. Last season, Ryan recorded a career-high 113 tackles with 18 passes defended and four interceptions, while helping Tennessee reach the AFC Championship Game.

As one of the top free agents still available, Ryan is reportedly seeking a deal worth $10 million per year. The Jets haven’t made an offer yet, but Ryan is ready to come home for the right offer.

“The Jets, I mean, it makes a lot of sense because I’m from the area,” Ryan said. “I went to Rutgers 20 minutes from there, so I’m familiar with New Jersey, I’m blue-collar, that’s how I grew up. I came out of Rutgers in the third round to New England, I had to do my job and I continue to do that.”
